Lance Louskieter
Lance Louskieter is a health systems and policy researcher with a particular interest in queer and decolonial scholarship. They are currently a PhD candidate in the School of Public Health and Family Medicine at the University of Cape Town (UCT). They are an Atlantic Fellow for Health Equity and named an Emerging Voice for Global Health in 2020. Lance’s advocacy includes partnering with Sex Workers Education and Advocacy Task Force (SWEAT) and serving as a board member of the Sexual and Reproductive Justice Coalition (SRJC) where they champion for the rights, access and implementation of sexual and reproductive health and justice for sex workers, queer people, and people with intersecting marginalities. Lance participates and contributes to local, national, and global advocacy and research spaces, including the UN, Department of Social Development (South Africa) and the Health Policy and Research Division (UCT) to facilitate transformative approaches for achieving health equity. Lance's research areas include health systems responsiveness, decolonizing global health, African feminism, community health systems, queer, trans and gender diverse people's health and rights, decriminalising of sex work, health equity, sexual and reproductive health and justice, intersectionality, and primary health care.
