Priya Sharma is a PhD student at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Her doctoral research employs the lens of feminist care ethics to critically analyze the policy debates around surrogacy services in India. Working at the intersection of anthropology, feminist philosophy, and sociology, her research interests span across the issues of social justice, care work, assisted reproductive technologies, and gender just policy. Alongside her academic work, Priya co-founded URHope-Foodbank in the wake of the pandemic. It is a unified platform which works towards food and other emergency needs of the marginalized sections in India by connecting the help seekers with the government programmes and citizen led initiatives. She is also the founding member of "CARUNA CPLO Hunger Helpline", another initiative assisting people in disaster-stricken areas started in collaboration with the civil servants, and "UBF Help", a national emotional support helpline set up for Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation, Hyderabad, India for people struggling with breast cancer and other breast health issues.
